VW delayed $1.4 bn tax evasion case, say customs authorities
The customs authorities have said that Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd delayed the provisional assessment of tax evasion worth $1.4 billion (about ₹11,526 crore) by not providing information promptly.
Pune RTO witnesses 46% decline in applicants for special BH series registration numbers
Pune: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) here has registered a significant drop of around 46 per cent in people opting for the BH (Bharat) series registration numbers in the last financial year 2024-25, compared to FY 2023-24.

Auto makers await Telangana’s monthly retail on Vahan data to move from wholesale numbers
New Delhi: Automakers are being hemmed in by Telangana, the only State where vehicle retail sales data is not being uploaded on the Vahan (Ministry of Transport & Highways) portal. It is preventing the industry from establishing a clearer trend about vehicle sales based on the retail number. According to the industry, Telangana is still in an old system for correlating the sales data and therefore, not included in the sales data every month.
Gave up bulletproof car to ride in hydrogen-fuelled vehicle: Gadkari
Nagpur: Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said he gave up the bulletproof car allotted him and instead chose to ride in one which runs on renewable energy. Speaking at a public event, Gadkari said, "I have a hydrogen-powered Toyota car, the first of its kind in the world. I gave up my bulletproof car for this."
Tata Motors' arm Jaguar Land Rover may look to clear US inventory fast
JLR is estimated to have one to two months’ inventory in the US, said one Mumbai-based analyst on grounds of anonymity. Another analyst who watches the sector closely said that with the carmaker pausing exports, the current inventory will liquidate faster. It takes at least two to three weeks for shipments to reach from the UK and other parts of Europe to the US.

Trump tariffs: Jaguar Land Rover halts US exports
Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover has decided to step on the temporary halt pedal on shipments to the U.S. market. This could be the first of the many ripple effects of the recently announced 25% tariffs on all foreign-made vehicles. On April 2, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that the global market will now be charged with this tariff rule, which took effect on the following day (April 3). 
Tesla's entry will help grow EV market in India, not worried about competition: BMW
BMW Group India is unfazed by the prospect of Tesla entering the electric vehicle market here and feels it will help grow the segment, according to its Managing Director and CEO Vikram Pawah. The group, which sold a total of 1,249 units of electric cars in India across two brands -- BMW and MINI -- has already sold 646 units in the first quarter of 2025 and is keeping its forecast of 15 per cent of its total sales in India coming from EVs, Pawah told PTI in an interview.

Elon Musk says he hopes for zero tariffs with Europe someday
Washington: Billionaire Elon Musk told Italy League leader Matteo Salvini on Saturday that he hoped in the future the US and Europe could create "a very close, stronger partnership" and reach a "zero-tariff zone."
